Waffen-SS Knights and Their Battles - Volume 7: February to May 1945
This is the seventh and final volume of the overall project that is detailing the chronological bestowal of all Knight’s Cross related awards to the soldiers of the Waffen-SS during the Second World War.
This volume will cover the timeframe from the start of February to the end of the conflict in May 1945. It focuses on the final destructive battles in Courland, Hungary and Austria, Pomerania, Halbe, Berlin and southern Germany, plus southern Europe. Many of the separate battles detailed in this volume are forever associated with the fighting capabilities of the Waffen-SS. It was 'death-throes' of the Third Reich and, within that, the existense of the Waffen-SS itself. Their cause defeated, the battles lost, but their final acts of bravery displayed; many of those individual acts of bravery are amongst the most interesting of the enture conflict.
This volume will detail the final 132 Knight’s Cross related awards (the most in any single volume), and features 102 Knight's Cross, 23 Oakleaves and 7 Swords. More than 50% of those awards are 'disputed' and that concept is covered here. 25 Maps and 126 photographs will help you visualise these final confusing and fast moving battles that tested these soldiers to the end and provided them the chance to receive the awards detailed within. A very intense volume that completes their story, this entire comprehensive project, and one that will add to your overall understanding of that conflict.
Volume 7 comes with the addition of an Index booklet, which covers all 7 volumes and the Knight's Cross awards contained with every volume. (The booklet is soft cover with 30 pages).
